Translation editor

Review source and target segments side by side with Translation Memory, terminology, QA, comments, status, and per-segment retranslation.

The Translation editor is where you review a translated document segment by segment. Each row shows the source text and its translation; you edit the target, check the quality panel, and approve. It follows familiar CAT-editor conventions while staying browser based. Available from the Starter plan up.

New PDF translations can be corrected in the Translation Editor on computers and tablets. PDF editing changes text while preserving saved styles; units with protected formulas or drawings are read-only. PDFs do not use the Document Editor. Older PDF jobs without saved editor segments need to be translated again. Phone browsers retain upload and download workflows.

In Recent documents or All documents, click an available filename to open the Translation Editor. The Open dropdown also contains the available editor choices, Download, Extract terms and Share project. Actions depend on your plan, file type and translation status. DOCX files support the Document Editor on eligible plans; PDFs use the Translation Editor only. Editors are available on computers and tablets.

Bilingual review CSV in the editor toolbar saves pending edits when you have editing access, then downloads a snapshot of source text, translations and review status. Unfinished translations remain blank. It does not change your TM or consume translation words. It is intended for review, not for importing changes back into the project.

What you see

  • The segment list: every segment of the document in order, with its status: untranslated, draft, translated, or approved.
  • The editing row: click an editable segment to correct its target. Office documents also provide a formatting toolbar; PDF editing preserves the existing styles.
  • The side panel: TM matches for the current segment, glossary terms found in its source, QA issues, retranslation options, and comments.
  • The progress bar: how much of the document is approved, so you always know where you stand.

The review workflow

1

Open a document in the Translation editor

Choose Translation editor from the documents list. For a DOCX still processing, open the live editor when the first translated segment is available. Pending rows keep their place, and translated segments appear automatically as they finish.

2

Walk the segments

Ctrl+Up/Down moves between segments. The editor remembers your position, so you can close it and pick up where you left off.

3

Edit and approve

Fix the target text where needed, then Ctrl+Enter to approve and move on. When TM saving is enabled, approved segments are saved to your chosen write memory. Ctrl+Shift+S saves a draft instead.

4

Use the side panel when in doubt

Open Segment resources below the compact Retranslate control. Compare glossary alternatives or approved TM matches, preview a suggestion, then accept or discard it. Expand Translation settings to change tone or context.

5

Export when done

Download the translated document with its layout, or export to plain text. See Exporting.

A 2,000-segment document needs more than scrolling. The toolbar above the segment list has the small functions that make the difference:

  • Status filters: chips that narrow the list to untranslated, draft, translated, or approved segments. Combine them (e.g. draft + translated) to build your own review queue.
  • Next untranslated / next issue: jump buttons that take you straight to the next segment that needs work or the next QA flag, with a live count of open issues.
  • Find & replace: search across all target texts and replace everywhere at once. Replaced segments are marked as drafts so you can review what changed.
  • Auto-apply 100% matches: when on, exact TM matches fill empty segments automatically as you move through the document.
  • Save all approved to TM: one button pushes every approved segment into your translation memory in bulk, if you skipped the per-segment saves.

What the editor is for

The editor puts the evidence for a review beside the target text: the source segment, terminology found in it, memory matches, QA findings, and saved history. Editing is available on tablets and desktop screens. Phone layouts remain read-only because the full segment controls do not fit reliably on a small screen.
