Document editor
Review and edit a translated DOCX in its rendered page layout, with tables, headings, images, and segment tools in view.
The Document editor shows your translated document as a document, rendered with its layout, styles, tables, and images. Click any text to edit its translation in a side panel while seeing exactly where it lives on the page. Available from the Translator Pro plan up.
When to use it over the Translation editor
- When context is visual: headings, captions, table cells, callouts: text whose correct translation depends on where it sits.
- When checking length and fit: a menu item or button label that overflows is obvious here and invisible in a segment grid.
- For a final pass: read the document the way its audience will.
How to use it
Open a document in the Document editor
Choose Document editor for a DOCX. While translation is running, the page preview refreshes as segments finish. The document pages stay white in both light and dark application themes.
Click text to select its segment
The side panel shows the source, the editable translation, TM matches, glossary hits, QA issues, and retranslation options, the same tools as the Translation editor.
Edit with formatting
The editing panel has the full toolbar: bold, italic, underline, strikethrough, super/subscript, highlight, special characters. Smart suggestions complete your glossary, termbase, and TM terms as you type.
Approve and continue
Approved segments are stored to translation memory, exactly as in the Translation editor. The rendered view updates as you save.
Small controls worth knowing
- Source / target view toggle: flip the whole rendered document between the original and the translation to compare layouts.
- Zoom: scale the document view up or down; useful for dense tables and small print.
- Copy source / clear: one-click buttons above the editing panel to start a segment from the source text or from scratch.
- Find & replace: the same document-wide replace as in the Translation editor.
When the document view helps
Use this view to check headings, labels, tables, and the placement of translated text. It edits the same saved segments as the Translation editor. The browser preview preserves supported document styles and structure; final pagination can differ from Word, especially with floating shapes or unavailable fonts. Review the rebuilt download before delivery.
