CAT settings reference
Every workflow setting in one place: translation defaults, TM matching, quality checks, locale formatting, non-translatables, presets, and data retention.
CAT settings control matching, QA, locale formatting, protected text, presets, and retention. They are under Language assets → Settings and apply across the account. Domain, tone, mode, and language defaults can also be saved here for new jobs.
What you can configure
| Section | Settings |

| Translation defaults | Default language pair, domain, tone, and mode for new translations, so you set them once instead of every time. |
| TM behavior | Fuzzy-match threshold, auto-apply 100% matches, and the consistency lock (identical source → identical target, always). |
| Glossary behavior | Strict mode (force the exact approved term) vs. preferred mode (suggest it, let grammar win), plus case sensitivity. |
| Locale formatting | Number formatting and punctuation & quotes post-passes (see Locale formatting). |
| Quality | The five QA checks (glossary adherence, inline tags, placeholders, length, consistency), each with its own toggle. |
| Non-translatables | A brand-names toggle plus your own never-translate list (the Custom List tab): codes, product names, part numbers the model must leave alone. |
| Presets | Named bundles of settings you switch between, one per client or content type. |
| Priority & retention | Processing priority and how long document data is kept. |
Presets in practice
A preset snapshots your language pair, domain, tone, mode, glossary choice, and terminology settings under a name like *Acme Legal*. When you upload a document, your presets appear as one-click chips. Apply one and jump straight to the confirmation step. Made a configuration you like during an upload? Save as preset right from the summary, and next time it's one click.
Why the settings list is limited
Earlier versions exposed regional-variant pinning, terminology-frequency controls, and stopword lists. Those settings were removed because they did not produce a clear, reliable change in the result. The remaining controls map to behaviour you can observe in matching, QA, formatting, storage, or job defaults.
